Policy Management Program

This web page outlines the Michigan State University (MSU) Policy Management Program and University Policies website that was implemented in January of 2023.

The policy management program serves as the official university resource for all matters related to the policy making process. MSU university-wide policies are developed and maintained in a standard format within the University Policies Search site. Members of the MSU community must follow the policy for developing, maintaining, reviewing, revising, approving, or retiring University-wide policies.

The University Policies website provides several resources and tools to help you find a specific policy or complete the policy process. The website is maintained by the Policy Library Coordinator in the Office of Audit, Risk and Compliance.

Policies are developed, reviewed, and approved in a manner that ensures consistency with the university’s mission and with applicable law and guidance. MSU formally approves University-wide policies through an established policy process, publishes those policies in a consistent format, and maintains those official policies in the widely accessible University Policies Search. Each University-wide policy has a designated responsible office and executive charged with adhering to the policy for developing and maintaining University-wide policies.

This website provides convenient access to policies that apply to the entire MSU Community. You can search for University-wide policies by name, issuing office, or key search terms. Use the navigation menu to locate the new and current policies and learn about the University’s policy management process.
